Cesium salts are less toxic than the corresponding potassium salts. The appropriate precautions for the handling of cesium salts are derived from the properties of the anion.

As a rule of thumb, cesium salts should be handled like the corresponding potassium salts, e.g. handling of cesium carbonate is appropriate, if the procedures for the use of potassium carbonate are observed.
